Nicolas Smith_Game Controller
Point of View
The main reason why i chose a video game controller is because one of the few things Im good at is playing video games and the symbol of video games is usually a controller. And I just researched the timeframe that each controller was used the most.

Building Awareness/Visual Storytelling
What I wanted to be show was essentially the timeline of gaming controllers and I wanted them to blend and melt into each other like years do for humans. The monster at the end is death. The reason I chose to use pen is because it was the very first project of this class and the medium is the most familiar to me. The composition is supposed to add to the idea but everything else is just stylized by me.
Object Transformation Into Intention
The reason I chose the layout I did for this poster is because of the analogy I came up with. "Control the game before it control's you". It refers to control but the point is to emphasize the lack of control individuals have to play these games. Hence the chaotic placement of the wording and the mis placement of the skull (head). I also used the ribcage and nerves to construct part of a controller to show being, "controlled" or being the games controller.
And this is defiantly a culturally prevalent poster because culture changes from year to year and this is what it has evolved or devolved into during this time. |
Generating A New Interpretation
This final project relates to my object by focusing on the aspects that make a gaming controller a controller. Video games and control. I feel the work of art is successful in conveying what I wanted because I essentially wanted to conceptualize what happens when someone is obsessed with or plays a game all the time and I think I did that.
This Idea is 100 percent my idea. I didn't receive any inspiration from anyone and the medium, idea or artwork was not effected by the changes that occurred because of the Rona. I originally wanted to do a painting like this. |
